Franz Tiefenbruch

Franz Tiefenbruch , also Tieffenbruch and Low German Depenbrock (* 1609 in Parchim , † 1702 in Jever ) was a German educator.

Life

Franz Tiefenbruch was the son of Franz Tiefenbruch, who died in 1626 in Parchim. He attended the large city school in Parchim and the academic high school in Hamburg . From 1624 he studied at the University of Rostock . After completing his degree, he entered the service of Count Anton Günther von Oldenburg-Delmenhorst. He became vice principal of the Mariengymnasium in Jever . He refused an appointment in 1646 to the post of rector of the school in his Mecklenburg hometown because "he felt obliged to the Oldenburg count".

In 1686 Franz Tiefenbruch was crowned Poeta laureatus and accepted into the German-minded cooperative under the name Der Tiefsinnige .

His son, the Magister Franz Wilhelm Tiefenbruch, was pastor at the castle church in Varel .

A street in Parchim is named after him.
