from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Friedrich Johann Christoph Cleemann , actually Friedrich Cleemann , also Friedrich Joseph Christoph Kleemann (born September 16, 1771 in Crivitz , † December 26, 1825 in Parchim ) was a German Protestant theologian, journalist and private scholar.

Life

Friedrich (Johann Christoph) Cleemann (the younger) was born as the son of the theologian Friedrich (Heinrich Christian) Cleemann (the elder), who was the rector of the city school in Crivitz at the time. He spent his childhood years in Crivitz. In 1778 the family moved to Leussow, where his father had been appointed pastor.

Cleemann attended schools in Schwerin and Ludwigslust and then studied theology, from 1789 to 1792 at the University of Rostock , from 1792 to 1793 at the University of Jena . After his studies, after he was ordained on April 10, 1799, he was still a parish assistant and assistant preacher to his father in Leussow. On September 24, 1800, however, he abdicated and went initially to Schwerin and later to Leipzig . In 1803 he came to Parchim, where he was privatized, but occasionally helped the local pastor in his office.

Writing

Cleemann dealt with archival studies and used church archives , parish registers , funeral sermons and family papers for this purpose ; He was particularly interested in the clergy in Mecklenburg and published some biographical compendia . He also gave music lessons and published a pamphlet on this. His instructions on teaching music were found as a manuscript in his estate and were probably not printed. He sacrificed all of his fortune for the publication of his writings.

In the period from 1818 to 1825 he made a number of articles for the Freimüthige Abendblatt , a national intelligence paper published in Schwerin, and has been the editor of Parchim's political newspaper since it was founded in 1818.
