Franz Wilhelm Fritzsche

Franz Wilhelm Fritzsche (born December 3, 1811 in Zwickau , † February 27, 1892 in Friedeburg near Freiberg ) was a German university professor for the art of tasting and metallurgy .

Life

Fritzsche passed the Abitur in Zwickau. From 1829 to 1835 he studied at the Bergakademie Freiberg , then he worked in the Freiberg huts as a hut helper. In 1840 he was transferred to the Antonshütte . There he initially worked as a weigher and second officer and from 1843 as an amalgamation tester and second officer.

At the end of May 1843 he moved to Freiberg , but kept his position as an amalgamation tester at the Antonshütte until 1849. From 1844 he held lectures in practical chemistry, and for the sick professor Karl Moritz Kersten he took over the lectures in analytical chemistry. In 1849 he became Bergwardein and Bergamtsassessor at the Bergamt Freiberg. Since July 4, 1849, he also worked as a teacher for the art of tasting at the Bergakademie. In 1853 he was promoted to Aradein Arbitration at the Oberhüttenamt, and in 1856 he was appointed full professor at the Bergakademie. He became chief smelter and in 1873 Bergrat . In 1873 he finished teaching at the Bergakademie Freiberg.

Fritzsche died in Friedeburg near Freiberg in 1892. He bequeathed his valuable butterfly collection to the Natural Science Association in Freiberg.
