Life

Franz Xaver Müller attended the Jesuit grammar school in Ellwangen and entered the Kaisheim monastery near Donauwörth at the age of 22 . He was ordained a priest on June 13, 1767. He then became a financial administrator and in 1777 went to Gutenzell Monastery as a confessor . From there he was called back to Kaisheim as abbot in 1783. A year later he became vicar general of the order for Upper Germany and visitor for Swabia, Tyrol and the Cistercian abbey in Kirchheim im Ries. Emperor Josef II appointed him imperial council.

With the secularization of the monastery in 1802 he was relieved of his office and spent his retirement in the nearby Leitheim Palace , the former summer residence of the Kaisheim abbots. There he died in 1817 and was buried in the general cemetery.
