Franz Georg Wilhelm Ludwig von Ditfurth (born September 9, 1840 in Bielefeld , † September 12, 1909 on the Lübrassen manor ) was a German manor owner, politician, government official and soldier.

From 1878 Franz von Ditfurth was appointed to the provisional administration of the district office of the Prussian district of Bielefeld and from 1879 as district administrator . He remained district administrator until August 14, 1909.

Life

Franz von Ditfurth belonged to the old noble family von Ditfurth , originally from Quedlinburg . He was born in Bielefeld as the son of Wilhelm von Ditfurth . He later became the owner of this Lübrassen estate . The lieutenant general and pasha in the Ottoman army Bodo Borries von Ditfurth was his younger brother.

Ditfurth passed his Abitur in 1858 at the high school in Bielefeld . He then started a military career. He served in the 15th Infantry Regiment where he was promoted to captain. He took part in the campaigns in 1864, 1866 and 1870/71. In 1876 he was discharged from military service for health reasons and was made major in the reserve in 1889.

He was then twice unanimously elected as the first candidate for the district office of the Bielefeld district. In both cases, 1876 and 1878, the election was invalid. It was not until a short time later that he was appointed provisional district administrator, subject to the passing of the examination. In 1879 the oral examination was waived for him because he had passed the written test sufficiently and the longer provisional administration had shown his suitability. He was a member of the Bielefeld Freemason Lodge Armin for German Loyalty .
