Grave near Ludwigsbrunn

The two French graves in the area of the town of Rehau in the Upper Franconian district of Hof are graves of soldiers from the time of the Wars of Liberation .

The graves are in the forest near Faßmannsreuth ( Lage ) or on the district road HO 4 near Ludwigsbrunn ( Lage ). These are the burial places of escaping or captured French soldiers who found refuge and care in farmhouses after the Battle of Leipzig in 1813, but died as a result of their wounds and were buried in the forest. The 22-year-old soldier Dubue, buried near Faßmannsreuth, belonged to the 56e regiment d'infanterie . The two soldiers were not allowed to be buried in the community area, which is why forest areas outside the community boundaries were selected as burial sites. The graves have been tended to this day and have been preserved.

In 1963 she formed the occasion for a twinning between the cities of Rehau and Bourgoin-Jallieu ( Region Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes ). The idea of town twinning was also an expression of the rapprochement between the two countries as a defining theme in 1963 in the sense of Franco-German friendship , as it was also recorded in the Élysée Treaty . Since 2003 there has been a hiking trail with six stations between the soldiers' graves.

There is a listed late medieval stone cross between Rehau and Pilgramsreuth . According to tradition, a French general who was on the retreat from Russia in 1813 died and was buried there.
