The film festival Frauenwelten ( spelling : FrauenWelten ) by Terre des Femmes has been held for one week every year since 2001 in Tübingen and Rottenburg on November 25th, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women . Current feature films and documentaries from over 20 countries that deal with the life situations of women worldwide will be shown. Recurring topics are honor crimes, trafficking in women, genital mutilation, domestic violence and social rights of women workers. As a protest against the murders of women in Ciudad Juárez , a tour through twelve German cities with the film "Señorita Extraviada" was carried out in 2004, and in 2006 and 2007 lobby work was carried out in the European Parliament together with human rights activist Judith Galarza (Human Rights Award Theodor Häcker of the City of Esslingen) increased EU engagement on feminicide in Mexico and Central America.

Among the guests were the directors Mohsen Makhmalbaf, Jasmila Zbanic, Samira Makhmalbaf and Hana Makhmalbaf, Marziyeh Meshkini , Jeanine Meerapfel , Nawfel Saheb-Ettaba , Ayse Polat , Helga Reidemeister , Nong Toom , human rights activists , Peace activists Sima Samarinnobahre , Marilyn Waring , Bowelpel Branfield and the actresses Nina Hoss , Archie Panjabi and Lola Dueñas.

The program is accompanied by a supporting program with concerts, readings, theater performances, workshops, exhibitions, parties and school performances.

The film festival is carried out in cooperation with the equal opportunities officer of the city of Tübingen in the cinemas Museum (Tübingen) and Waldhorn (Rottenburg). In Bielefeld, Konstanz and Leipzig, small editions of the film festival are organized by the city groups of Terre des Femmes during the year. There is also a cooperation with the sister festival Frauenwelten of the organization "Pro Frau" in Vienna for the organization of their film festival on March 8th.
