history

In the 19th century Christian women's associations were established in close connection with the parish office. In 1911 some of the clubs came together and formed the first association. In 1923 the association was given the name Evangelische Frauenhilfe Hannover eV and was mainly oriented towards private charity at community level and organized mothers 'training, mothers' recreation and Mother's Day collection. The Frauenhilfe eV also set up day-care centers and after-school care centers. In May 1926 the Evangelische Frauenhilfe Hannover eV comprised 106 individual associations with over 12,000 members. At this time the association had an office in the Lutherhaus Hannover. In October 1933, the Deutsche Frauenwerk (DFW) was founded, which formally existed alongside the National Socialist Women's Association (NFS). In April 1934, what is now Hanover's women's work was incorporated into the State German Women's Work (DFW). In 1941, the reorganization and churchization and integration into the Office for Community Service (today House of Church Services) of the State Church of Hanover followed to protect women's work from the influence and access of the National Socialists and the German Christians and to organize it under the official church. From 1972 to 1977 the women's work was part of the adult work department in the Office for Community Service, from 1977 to 1985 part of the community adult work with u. a. men's work, home and work, the agency for work for expellees and the Hanover family education center. From 1998 to 2002, the women's work formed a separate area in the AfG. From 2002 to 2009, the Frauenwerk was the specialist department of the community support services in the Office for Community Service / House of Church Services. Since 2009 it has been a field of work in Department 3 of the HkD.
