Life

Frauke von der Haar studied folklore , art history and German at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster and the Philipps University in Marburg . She did her doctorate in 1994 at the University of Marburg and then completed a traineeship in the museum advice department of the Rhenish Archives and Museum Office in Pulheim - Brauweiler . From 1999 to 2003 Frauke von der Haar was deputy director of the German Blade Museum in Solingen - Gräfrath and then took over the management of the Grafschafter Museum in Moers Castle . From 2004 to 2008 she worked as a curator at the Deutsches Museum in Munich , where she headed the rail transport department. Among other things, she was involved in the conception and construction of the permanent exhibition Technology and Mobility in the Transport Center, which opened in 2006 and has been a branch of the Deutsches Museum since 2003.

In 2008 she took over the management of the Bremer Focke-Museum , which, as the Bremen State Museum for Art and Cultural History , deals primarily with the history of the city and the general cultural history of the municipality of Bremen. She became the successor to Jörn Christiansen, who was retiring.

Von der Haar has been Deputy Chairwoman of the Lower Saxony / Bremen Museum Association since 2009 and is involved in various advisory boards, committees and associations on a voluntary basis. Since the 2013/2014 winter semester she has been teaching practical museology at the University of Oldenburg. At the beginning of 2020 she will move to the Munich City Museum as director , with the main task being the general renovation of the house. When the new green-red city council coalition postponed the renovation at least until 2026 after the local elections in 2020 , von der Haar expressed criticism and said that this would mean the end of the project.
