Frederike Charlotte Koleiski (born August 25, 1987 in Wesel ) is a German athlete who competes in disabled sports due to a serious nervous disease .

Career

In her youth, Koleiski was not affected by her later illness and was active as a track and field athlete for Weseler TV . She also played handball on the side . At the age of 15 she became the North Rhine-Westphalia champion in the shot put and set the record distance of 14.50 meters for this competition. She was appointed to the national team and regularly achieved good results in various competitions. From 2009, however, she was unable to take part in other competitions due to severe back problems. It was not until two years later that an autoimmune disease of the nerves, which falls under the category of polyneuropathy , was diagnosed. Despite a complex treatment process, her right foot is paralyzed and the muscles in many areas of the body are slack.

In 2013, Koleiski turned back to the sport by acquiring a track and field trainer license and starting a job as a trainer for children at Eintracht Duisburg . In addition, the following year she began studying psychology at the Distance University in Hagen . At the end of 2014 she got back into training herself and devoted herself to the shot put and discus throw. In both disciplines, she met the respective standards for the 2015 World Athletics Championships for the disabled , which took place in Doha in October this year. At the World Championships, she achieved the bronze medal in third place in the shot put and took fourth place in the discus throw. In the discus throw she qualified for participation in the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro. Her preferred discipline, the shot put, is not held at the Paralympics. With a width of 30.34 meters, she took fourth place in the discus throw in Rio de Janeiro.
