The Weseler Gymnastics Club from 1860 e. V. is a sports club from Wesel on the Lower Rhine. The association was founded on May 24th, 1860 and has around 1,900 members (as of 2010).
Departments
athletics
In the late 1950s, Ludwig Müller and Roland Watschke, two nationwide successful runners, were active on Weseler TV at the same time. The department used to be based in the Lippe Stadium , which is close to the Wesel Citadel and the mouth of the Lippe River. When it was completed in 1990, the Auestadion , located on the Auesee , became a training facility for athletes from the WTV. It is a state performance base for athletics and includes a plastic track, plastic multi-purpose fields for long jump, high jump and pole vault as well as a throwing area with several facilities for different disciplines. Since 2005 there has also been an athletics hall for winter training on the site. The athletics department of Weseler TV organizes various competitions at district, state and federal level.
Handball
The originally independent handball department has been part of the Wesel handball community (HSG Wesel for short) since April 1, 2001. The HSG came into being as a merger of the handball teams of Weseler TV and Weseler SV . All women's, men's and youth teams have become part of the HSG. The first men's team qualified for the Oberliga Niederrhein in 2016.

The club's gymnastics department is divided into a competition group and a popular sports group. The department organizes its own competition once in summer and once in winter. Several halls in downtown Wesel, Feldmark , Obrighoven and Schepersfeld are used for training.
basketball
The basketball department of the WTV is the only basketball club in Wesel. The department was founded in 1972 and has around 140 members and includes men's and youth teams. The men played up to the upper league, in recent years the first men’s team has been commuting between the district and the first district league. At the district level there were only a few successes in the 80s and 90s of the last century, the first being the district title of the (no longer existing) women's team in 1983. After a long dry spell at the beginning of the new century, youth work was consistently built up from the U10. With the exception of the U16s, all youth teams won a total of 5 district championships and 4 district cups between 2011 and 2017. The training takes place in different halls in the city center, the Feldmark and in Obrighoven.
Flag football
The Weseler Flag Football department has existed since spring 2018. With the "Wesel Rhine Flags", the football trend is being promoted in Wesel as well. The low-contact version of American football is similar to its big brother in many areas. A special feature of the sport is that mixed teams of women and men are allowed in regular game play. The Rhine Flags currently take part in two game operations, the DFFL 5er Liga (throughout Germany) and the SFL NRW Liga. In addition, the first international home tournament, the "Donkey Bowl I", took place in June 2019. This tournament is to be continued annually in June. From spring to autumn, the innogy Auestadion is used for training and playing. For the winter months it goes to the Weseler Hallen.
Other departments
The table tennis department of the WTV includes several men's and youth teams. As of 2016, the volleyball department had two women's teams and there was also a girls' team. On November 23, 2011, the Weseler TV's triathlon department was founded. The health department of Weseler TV was created in cooperation with the Marien Hospital Wesel. In this department, sport is used to treat certain clinical pictures under medical supervision. Furthermore, Weseler TV has a golf department.
Disbanded departments
At the beginning of the 1950s, badminton established itself as a sport in Wesel. From 1955 the WTV had a badminton department registered with the regional association. This department was dissolved again in 1958. BV Wesel Rot-Weiss , which dates back to 1957, was able to establish itself as the city's badminton club and at times even competed in the 1st Bundesliga.
The swimming department of the Weseler gymnastics club was merged into the Weseler swimming club in 1920.

- Ludwig Müller (* 1932), German champion in several long-distance running distances at WTV, became known as the "hero of Augsburg"
- Roland Watschke (* 1934), as a WTV member, was third at the German athletics championships over 5000 meters
- Wolfgang Ritte (* 1953), successful pole vaulter and decathlete, was part of the WTV for a time
- Michael Möllenbeck (* 1969), active in WTV in his youth
- Frederike Koleiski (* 1987), active in WTV in her youth
- Torsten Sanders (* 1994), active in WTV in his youth
