Location of the Fredriksdal borough in Helsingborg.

Fredriksdal is a district in the east of the Swedish city of Helsingborg . It is located in the city district of the same name, which has around 4,200 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2006) .

The name goes back to the Fredriksdal manor ( Fredriksdals herrgård ), which lies to the west of the district. Fredriksdal Park and the Fredriksdal Open Air Museum are also located here .

The district was created as part of the so-called million dollar program , a building project by the Swedish government in the 1960s and 70s. The development consists of high-rise buildings surrounded by green spaces. Like many of the settlements created during the Million Program, Fredriksdahl is a socially disadvantaged area with a high proportion of immigrants , high unemployment and a low level of education . The majority of the approximately 600 students in the school in the district ( Fredriksdalsskolan ) come from immigrant families.
