The Freeport Lisboa Fashion Outlet is the largest outlet in Europe with a sales area of 50,000 m². It opened on September 9, 2004. It is located in the city of Alcochete, in the greater Lisbon area .
The outlet is laid out like a village. In the center there is a square from which three alleys go in different directions. In the alleys are the individual shops, in which various brands of textile companies, furniture and interior decoration are sold. There are also opticians, a mobile phone shop, a multiplex cinema and numerous restaurants.

There are two parking options: A free parking lot is located in front of the gates of the outlet. Underneath there is an underground car park, which is only open on weekends.

Bus shuttle
The operator of Freeport offered a free bus shuttle to and from Lisbon for the first time in 2010. This service was repeated for 2011. The shuttle bus ran four times a day from Praça Marquês de Pombal .
The Freeport case
In 2009, there was speculation in the Portuguese press about the approval process for the outlet.
In 1999 , the Irish company RJ McKinney applied for construction on the site of the former Firestone tire factory . The selected site was in the Reserva Natural do Estuário do Tejo nature reserve . The company RJ McKinney has now commissioned the company "Smith & Pedro - Consultores Associados, Lda." To take care of the building permit and changing the boundaries of the nature reserve.
On March 14, 2002, the building permit was granted by the cabinet under the leadership of Prime Minister António Guterres . This happened three days before the parliamentary elections, which then led to the election of António Guterres. The then environment minister was the future prime minister José Sócrates . The environmental impact of the Agência Portuguesa do Ambiente was examined beforehand. Within 55 days it was decided that there were no effects. This makes it one of the fastest approval procedures. In this case, a secretly recorded DVD emerged in 2009 in which a counselor admitted paying bribes.
