Free International University
The Free International University ( FIU ), sometimes stylized as FIU , also known as the Free International University for Creativity and Interdisciplinary Research or Free International University , was developed by Joseph Beuys together with Klaus Staeck (1st chairman), Georg Meistermann (2nd chairman) and Willi Bongard (Secretary) founded the sponsoring association, which as an "organizational place for research, work and communication" wanted to think through the questions of a social future and, as a free university, to supplement the school and education system and to strive for legal equality with other universities.
The FIU was founded on April 27, 1973 in Joseph Beuys' studio in Düsseldorf and existed as a non-profit, registered association for two years after the artist's death until it was dissolved in 1988.
The idea of the Free International University (FIU) was taken up and continued by various people and groups, including the FIU Verlag of the author and publisher Rainer Rappmann , the FIU initiated by Beuys students in Amsterdam, Gelsenkirchen , Hamburg and Munich, and in particular the association More democracy and the omnibus for direct democracy . In this context, Beuys master class student Johannes Stüttgen is worth mentioning, who propagated and developed the concept of the extended concept of art . Alumni of the UDK Berlin also took up the idea of the Free International University in their art consultation hours. For the tenth anniversary of the Council of Federal Artists, the long-standing offer of the FIU art consultation was added to the website of the Council of Federal Artists. This commitment of the No Budget Organization allows the Free international University to continue informally. In the art consultation, which the artist Heiko Völz (pseudonym Joy Millepiccoliventi) has been offering since 1986, a contact form can be used to contact an artist 24 hours a day, day and night.
