The free seat Moos is a former free house . The building is located in the Traundorf district, Georgstraße 26, in the municipality of Gmunden ( Gmunden district ) in Upper Austria .

history

Traundorf belonged to the rule Ort . Traundorf is first mentioned in documents in 1340. Tensions existed for decades between Traundorf and Gmunden, as the people of Traundorf disregarded the privileges of the city of Gmunden. These could only be cleared when Traundorf was incorporated into the truce of Gmunden for the first time in 1603 and finally in 1637 . The Moos outdoor seating area was also not originally subject to municipal jurisdiction and was exempt from any tax payments.

Nothing is known about the construction of the Moos outdoor seating area. It was first mentioned in 1607. Hans Pirhinger appears as the first owner in the Moß. In 1642 it belonged to Johann Wankhammer. 1764 is named as the owner Maria Anna Artstätter. In 1813 the outdoor seating area included moss "as an accessory" and a. about six yoke fields and meadows, a fish pond, a house mill, two glass houses. After that, moss saw many owners. In 1848 it was still entered in the country table . The outdoor seating area is entered in the digital original folder as a gardener in the moss and was used as a gardening shop for many decades. The area is often referred to as the Lechner grounds after later generations of owners . In the Gmundner Chronik von Krackowizer (vol. 1, p. 133) it is assumed that the area of the free seat Weinberg (see there) belonged to the free seat Moos ( Gartner im Moos ) earlier .

Today the building has a villa-like character, a corner tower has been preserved. The Moos outdoor seating area is privately owned and cannot be visited.

Lechner Chapel

The chapel (Brunnenwegkapelle, Lechnerkapelle) on the corner of Brunnenweg and Moosgasse belonged to the Gartner im Moos and thus to the Lechner family until a few years ago . No data are known about the construction of the chapel either.
