The Fremantle Football Club , also known as Fremantle Dockers , is an Australian football team from Fremantle , a port city 20 kilometers southwest of Perth , which plays in the Australian Football League . Dockers' home stadium is Optus Stadium in Burswood, a suburb of Perth. The club colors are purple and white. history

In 1993, planning began for a new Australian Football team on the west coast, as this region was previously only represented in the AFL with the West Coast Eagles in competition. The first training of the newly founded Dockers took place on October 31, 1994 in preparation for the 1995 season. The Fremantle location was chosen to celebrate the rich history of Australian football in this region, where the sport has been practiced since 1880.

The Dockers' first season ended with eight wins and 14 defeats in 13th place in the table. More years followed in the bottom third of the table before the 2003 season was finished in fifth place, which meant moving into the finals . Here, however, the Essendon Bombers had to be defeated in the qualifying final . In the following two years the finals were only just missed, but in 2006 the Dockers again reached the finals with a third place in the table at the end of the regular season. Fremantle achieved nine wins in a row and with 15 victories this season, the best club performance up to that point. In the finals you lost the first match against the Adelaide Crows , but managed in the semifinals the first win against the Melbourne Demons and thus reached the pre-finals for entry into the Grand Final . However, the Sydney Swans were too strong and defeated the Dockers by 35 points.

After a few unsuccessful years, Fremantle reached the finals again in 2010 as the sixth best team of the regular season . In the first round you defeated the favored Hawthorn Hawks with 30 points difference, in the semifinals you had to admit defeat the Geelong Cats with 69 points. In 2012, the Dockers made it to the finals again , where they again achieved a surprise win against the first of the regular season, the Geelong Cats. The subsequent match against the Adelaide Crows was lost again. 2013 saw the greatest success in the club's history when it entered the Grand Final for the first time . There Fremantle was defeated by the Hawthorn Hawks with 15 points. In 2015, the Dockers won the Minor Premiership for the first time as the best team of the regular season , but failed again in the pre-finals to Hawthorn.
