The alien scorpionfish ( Dracocephalum peregrinum ) is a species of scorpionfish ( Dracocephalum ) in the mint family (Lamiaceae).
description
The alien dragon's head is a perennial , herbaceous plant that reaches heights of between 15 and 30 centimeters. The leaf margin is toothed with thorns. There is a small needle on the tip of the leaf. The crown is blue, red or white and 22 to 32 millimeters long.
The flowering period extends from June to August.
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 12.
distribution
The species occurs in southwest Siberia , Kazakhstan , Mongolia and in the Xinjiang Autonomous Region in northwest China on alpine grasslands and in crevices.

Dracocephalum peregrinum was 1756 Linnaeus in Centuria II. Plantarum , page 20, first published . Synonyms for Dracocephalum peregrinum are Dracocephalum politowii Gand. , Ruyschiana peregrina ( L. ) House and Ruyschiana verticillata Mill.

The alien scorpionfish is rarely used as an ornamental plant for rock gardens.
