Fresenhagen (Stadum)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Fresenhagen ( North Frisian : Frisenhuuwen , Danish : Fresenhavn ) is a place in the district of North Friesland in northwestern Schleswig-Holstein . The place name goes back to the Fresenhagen estate , which was created in the 16th century through the purchase of land by the nobleman Jürgen von der Wisch from the Holstein noble family Wisch . The name of the farm means about Hof bei den Frisians ( tom Fresenhave ). The place is, however, a little east of the North Frisian settlement area in the originally Jutian - Danish settlement area in the Karrharde on the Schleswig Geest . The Danish place name is Fresenhavn. The estate existed as an independent estate district until 1928 . Today Fresenhagen is north of the federal highway 199 Flensburg towards Niebüll , just before Leck and belongs to the municipality of Stadum .

Rio Reiser House in Fresenhagen (2007)

The place became famous through the music group Ton Steine Scherben and their singer Rio Reiser , who bought a farm there in 1975. The then Prime Minister of Schleswig-Holstein, Heide Simonis , personally decreed that Rio Reiser could be buried on his private property in Fresenhagen in 1996. After the farm was sold, Reiser's body was reburied on February 11, 2011 in the Berlin cemetery Alter St.-Matthäus-Kirchhof Berlin .
