Friedrich-Wilhelm "Frido" Gast (born January 9, 1929 ; † June 7, 2018 ) was a German handball player and coach .

Career

Guest played in his entire career at TV Sachsenroß Hille as a center forward and reached the final of the Westphalia Championship in 1957 with the club, which was lost to SV Westerholt 4: 5. At the final tournament, Guest was also the top scorer.

From 1967 to 1969 he was also the team's coach.

On September 30, 1956, he played his first of a total of two international field handball matches against Switzerland for the Federal Republic of Germany and thus became the first national player of the TV Sachsenroß Hille.

Others

Gast was a self-employed businessman and had two sons with his wife. One of the two, who is also called Friedrich-Wilhelm - for a better distinction, however, Fido Gast or initially Frido Gast jun. was named - has also played two international matches for the Federal Republic of Germany.

Frido Gast passed away on June 7, 2018.
