Fridolin Huber

Fridolin Huber (born August 13, 1809 in Walenstadt ; † December 26, 1886 there , Catholic , entitled to live in Walenstadt) was a Swiss entrepreneur and liberal politician .

Fridolin Huber was on August 13, 1809 Son of factor born Justus Franz Huber in Walenstadt. Huber first attended the Catholic Cantonal School in St. Gallen . He then went on language trips to Neuchâtel and Milan .

After the early death of his father, Huber took over the management of the freight forwarding company Faktor Huber & Co. at the age of 16 in 1825. The Sargans-Weesen railway line, which opened in 1859, lost its importance and gave it up at the beginning of the 1860s . In 1860 he was one of the co-founders of Buntweberei AG Walenstadt.

Fridolin Huber was popular as the last factor and generous benefactor . After the death of his only son in 1866, Huber gave Walenstadt in particular rich donations , such as a school, a church and money for road construction. In his will he bequeathed 200,000 francs to the community for the construction of the Walenstadt hospital. Fridolin Huber, who was married to Anna Maria, born Freuler, died on December 26, 1886 at the age of 77 in Walenstadt.
