history

In 1207 King Ottkar of Bohemia confirmed two hooves in the village of Ossegg Monastery . The first settlers from Bohemia established Friedebach in the Sayda area. On September 3, 1209, Archbishop Daniel of Prague confirmed a hoof to the Ossegg monastery in Friedebach. In the loan letter of 1479, Caspar von Schönberg is given the hunt for fields that do not belong to him. A terrible thunderstorm with "castle weather" fell on May 15, 1622 over the place, a house and a barn were torn away by the water, eight people drowned in the floods. In 1841 the master baker Friedrich Albert Schubert from Zwönitz bought the Mittelmühle and set up a white bakery. In 1847, the organ builder Carl Gottlieb Jeheber from Friedebach began building the Sayda organ (offer 3000 thalers ). The inheritance court went bankrupt, the community acquired the estate for 3,100 thalers and the associated cottage with a garden for 3,000 thalers. The judges mill was dismantled. Mr. Rechenberger from Sayda applied to build a flax swing mill on the property. In 1912 the community became a member of the Freiberg Overland Electricity Association . The Glöß'sche Gut became the property of the community through a foreclosure auction. The community acquired a hearse made by wheelwright Wenzel.

Shortly before the end of the war in April / May 1945, aircraft shot at residential buildings. As a result, the properties of Kurt Müller and Robert Kaltofen were set on fire and burned down. In 1945 several Friedebach citizens were taken to internment camps. Three of them never returned. Other citizens took their own lives in the first few days of May.

On April 1, 1958, the LPG "Frisch-Auf" was founded in the Meyer Inn with 5 businesses and a total of 66 hectares of land. Founders were: Alfred Braun, Kurt Braun, Albin Müller, Siegfried Naumann and Ella Walther. Alfred Braun became chairman. 1977 to 1984 the upper inn (Gottfried Meyer) was sold and converted into a modern holiday facility. The company from Jänschwalde (a brown coal company) built a large ward block and a modern swimming pool. 133 vacation spots were created.

The Friedebach post office closed on March 31, 1992. The community was set up as a rural delivery district (deliverers with vehicles). Deliveries are made from the Sayda post office. On October 1, 1996, the Wenzel sawmill built a new, modern, high-performance sawmill at the previous location. The Friedebach Volunteer Fire Brigade celebrated the 120th anniversary of the founding party in June 1997.

Attractions

Middle mill

This former grain and oil mill is located on the slope of the valley. A linseed grist furnace, a punch press, a large water wheel and a thumb shaft with six pairs of rammers from the time before 1958 can be viewed. Because until then the mill was still working.

Tube drilling

Tube drill at work

The propulsion of a pipe drilling mill by hydropower is unique in Europe . In 1864, the master builder Neubert built a pipe drilling building in Friedebach, in which the drilling of water pipes from logs was carried out with an undershot water wheel drive. The water wheel drive was later replaced by an electric motor. The tube drilling facility is still functional. Demonstrations by one of the last tube drills are possible by appointment (Tel. 037365-7308).
