Friedel Deventer (born January 26, 1947 in Meschede ) is a graphic designer , photomontage artist , painter and object artist. He lives as a freelance artist in Kassel .

life and work

education

Deventer completed an apprenticeship as an art teacher and graphic designer at the Kasseler HbK in 1972 . Since 1968 he has appeared with graphics and caricatures that are politically and socially critical. In 1969 he co-founded the Democratic Graphics Hamburg collective . Since the early 1970s, he has been creating photo montages, objects and political posters that criticized the destruction of the environment , the Vietnam War and world hunger .

Public Works

Since 1974 Deventer has created more than 50 murals in public spaces in Kassel, more than 120 throughout Germany. The works, mostly created in a photo-realistic style, were often created in collaboration with local commercial enterprises or housing associations and also served to improve the quality of living. In addition, he also transformed the transformer house into a classicist winter garden or a palm house . In 1995 and 1996 he created the world's largest landscape panorama on an area of ​​3,000 m² at the Galluswarte S-Bahn station in Frankfurt .

Since 1986 Friedel Deventer has realized several electronically controlled kinetic objects and wind objects. He created counter-rotating metal rods for the Kassel Königsgalerie and slowly rolling red balls for an office building on Wilhelmshöher Allee in Kassel.
