Friederike Heumann

Friederike Heumann (* 1965 ) is a German viol player .

Friederike Heumann studied viol at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis with Jordi Savall and Paolo Pandolfo . She then lived and worked as a scholarship holder at the “Cité Internationale des Arts” in Paris , where she came into contact with numerous French musicians. She worked with the Belgian viol player Sophie Watillon on recordings for the ensemble “Le Poème Harmonique” under Vincent Dumestre . At the international competition “Premio Bonporti” in Rovereto, her ensemble “Le Nuove Musiche” received first prize.

In 2001 she founded the ensemble for ancient music “Stylus Phantasticus” with concertmaster Pablo Valetti and other musicians, with whom she published various CDs and is a guest at numerous early music festivals. Several of her recordings have received international prizes such as the “Diapason d'Or” or the “Choc du Monde de la Musique”. In 2011 she played an arrangement of the Violin Sonatas Op. 5 by Arcangelo Corelli in an arrangement for viol. Friederike Heumann has been teaching viola da gamba at the University of Music in Würzburg since autumn 2011 .
