Friederike Naumann-Steckner

Friederike Naumann-Steckner , née Friederike Naumann , (born October 22, 1951 in Ludwigsburg ) is a German classical archaeologist .

Career

Friederike Naumann is the daughter of the building researcher Rudolf Naumann . From 1969 to 1978 she studied Classical Archeology, Prehistory and Early History and Ancient Near Eastern Studies at the Universities of Tübingen and Heidelberg . In 1978 she received her doctorate from Ulrich Hausmann in Tübingen . After an internship at the Antikensammlung of the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Kassel (1978–1980) and a travel grant from the German Archaeological Institute (1980/81), she worked from 1982 to 1985 as a research assistant at the Archaeological Institute of the University of Mainz . In 1985 she became a research assistant at the Römisch-Germanisches Museum in Cologne, and from 1994 until her retirement on March 31, 2019, she was deputy director of the museum.

In 1989 she was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Italian Republic .

Naumann-Steckner is married to the historian Cornelius Steckner (* 1948).
