Ulrich Hausmann

Ulrich Hausmann (born August 13, 1917 in Bremen , † January 19, 1996 in Tübingen ) was a German classical archaeologist . He taught as a professor of classical archeology at the University of Tübingen .

After studying with Gerhart Rodenwaldt and Ludwig Deubner in Berlin , Hausmann got an assistant position there before he switched to the Athens Department of the German Archaeological Institute . Afterwards he had an assistant position and a lectureship in Würzburg , from 1960 he was the successor to Bernhard Schweitzer professor at the Archaeological Institute of the University of Tübingen until his retirement in 1983.

Hausmann's research in the areas of Greek consecration reliefs, Roman portraits and Hellenistic relief pottery were fundamental.
