Life

Friedhelm Dauner was born in Schollene in what is now Saxony-Anhalt and grew up in Leverkusen . After attending primary school , he completed an apprenticeship as a chemical laboratory assistant . He graduated from high school in 1971 at the Clemens Hofbauer College , an ancient language institute aimed at obtaining university entrance qualifications especially for those working later. He then studied theology at the theological faculty in Fulda and in Innsbruck. On July 2, 1978, he was ordained a priest in Fulda Cathedral . Then he was chaplain in Flieden , Homberg (Efze) and Somborn , before he took over his first pastor in 1983 in Mernes . In 1986 he became pastor of the Gersfeld parish with the branch church on Wachtküppel .

music

Dauner grew up in a musical family. His father and grandfather had played and sung in bars. As a child he had already taught himself to play the guitar and sang to it. Later as a chaplain and pastor he often played during church services. After being asked whether he would like to make professional recordings in order to sell his music, he decided in 1995 to do so and at the same time to use the proceeds to support a youth education organization in Bolivia , which is supervised by a German father. His music is shaped by religious content, which he calls Bible pop. Dauner says of his songs that the lyrics are like “sermons, only in a musical, entertaining and touching way”.

So far Dauner has released fourteen CDs and donated € 140,000 from the proceeds to a development aid project. His eleventh album contains thirteen songs, five original compositions and twelve meditations and was released in a first edition of 3000 pieces. In October 2014 his twelfth CD "Source of Joy" was released. On October 23, 2016 Dauner then presented his 13th album "The Pearl of a Shell".

On October 14, 2018 Dauner presented another CD in the parish church Mariä Himmelfahrt, Gersfeld. His 14th album is entitled "Peace Signals". Dauner says that this album will not be followed by another album.
