Friedhelm Dornseifer (born August 3, 1946 in Siegen ) is a German entrepreneur in the food retail sector and has been President of the Federal Association of the German Food Trade (BVLH) since 2010 .

Life and achievement

In 1966 he took over two shops of 17 and 20 m² in Rothemühle and Schönau , two districts of the municipality of Wenden in the Sauerland , from his father Otto Dornseifer , and over the years he helped develop the Dornseifer group into currently 15 supermarkets with sales areas of 350 to 3400 m² a total sales area of ​​over 24,000 m² and more than 1000 employees. The group of companies based in the Sauerland is a partner of the Rewe Group .

In 1967 Dornseifer opened another branch in Siegen-Weidenau with an area of ​​200 m². In the following year, another branch and, for the first time, a butcher's shop was opened. This butcher was the cornerstone for the decision not only to buy meat and sausage products in the future, but also to produce them in-house in order to be able to supply their own markets with fresh meat and sausage products.

In 1991 Dornseifer was awarded the Golden Sugar Loaf by the food newspaper . On October 25, 1993, he took over the chairmanship of the medium-sized food chain operations (MLF) and has held this position ever since.
