The Schruns Cemetery is located in the market town of Schruns in the Bludenz district in Vorarlberg . The cemetery is a listed building ( list entry ).

history

The Schruns cemetery originally included the Schruns parish church and was laid out in 1844 with arcades at its current location.

graveyard

The cemetery is surrounded by a high wall with an arcade. Under the arcades there are tombs and paintings on the Old and New Testament by Franz Bertle (1852) and Konrad Honold .

The old cemetery chapel was built in 1850, the ceiling painting of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ was painted by Jakob Bertle .

The new cemetery chapel was built in 1959/1960 according to the plans of the architect Werner Pfeifer (1919–1972). The altar shows the picture crucifix with Maria and Johannes and carries the figures Franz von Sales and Margaretha from the workshop of Andreas Kölle around 1760, the upper picture shows God the Father, the predella relief shows poor souls .
