Friedl Thorward
Friedl Thorward , actually Siegfried Peter , (born January 5, 1915 in Furth im Wald , † July 9, 2008 ibid) was a German mountaineer and author.
Thorward had been at home in the Bavarian-Bohemian border region since childhood. He was a nature lover, extreme mountaineer and forest hiker. He had made a name for himself as a connoisseur of the Bavarian Forest through his lecture evenings throughout Germany and through his books Mein wildes Waldgebirge and On lonely mountain paths . Thorward has also written two novels, Der böhmisch`Girgl , which appeared as a serial in 14 East Bavarian newspapers.
