Waldschmidt Prize

The Waldschmidt Prize is a cultural prize awarded annually by the Waldschmidt Association in Eschlkam since 1985 . It should not be confused with the Ernst Waldschmidt Prize of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation .

history

The association, which was founded in 1984, is named after the association, as well as the award it has given, to the local writer Maximilian Schmidt , who was given the name “Waldschmidt” by Prince Regent Luitpold in 1898. The Waldschmidt Prize in the form of an L-shaped granite stone trophy with a medal emblem and associated certificate goes to personalities or organizations who have made a special contribution to the region of the Bavarian Forest in literary, musical, artistic or other ways . The prize is not linked to any financial endowment or material value.
