Theodor G. Sellner

Theodor G. Sellner (born January 5, 1947 in Zwiesel , Bavarian Forest ) is a German glass artist .

Theodor G. Sellner is one of the co-founders of the studio glass movement . In 1974 he created his first artistically designed glass objects , which he made “in front of the lamp ”, i.e. over an open flame. In the 1980s he began to combine this technique with work on the furnace and received a patent for it in 1988 .

biography

Sellner completed his training from 1961 to 1964 at the technical school for glass in Zwiesel . In 1974 he had the first exhibition of his exhibits. In 1978 and 1979 he studied in Murano with Aldo Nason, in Mount Vernon (Ohio) with Robert Coleman, in Corning (New York) at the local Corning Glass Center and in Sandefjord with Jan Erikson. The first international exhibitions in Annecy and Corning also take place at this time .

Teaching

Since 1990 he has been a visiting lecturer at the Institute for Materials Science III at the University of Erlangen under the direction of Heribert Oel . Since 1993 he has held another position as a guest lecturer at the Georg-Simon-Ohm Technical School in Nuremberg . Sellner was a course instructor at Bildwerk Frauenau and gave lectures in Lviv at the Academy of Fine Arts, in Alma-Ata on behalf of the Ministry of Education there, and in Travemünde as part of the 55th Glass Technology Conference.

In addition, there was participation in international symposia such as the World Crafts Council in Vienna, in Corning, in Lviv, in Gus Krustalny (Russia) and in Nový Bor (Czech Republic).
