Friedrich-Wilhelm von Herrmann

Friedrich-Wilhelm von Herrmann (born October 8, 1934 in Potsdam ) is a German philosopher .

Life

After attending school in Potsdam and Berlin , von Herrmann studied philosophy, German literature and history at the Free University of Berlin . In 1957 he moved to the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg , where he received his doctorate in 1961 under Eugen Fink with a thesis on Martin Heidegger's self-interpretation . After receiving his doctorate, he worked from 1961 to 1970 as a research assistant to Eugen Fink at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg . In 1970 he completed his habilitation in Freiburg with a thesis on phenomenological investigations into the temporality of the understanding of being . Von Herrmann was a private assistant to Martin Heidegger from 1972 until his death in 1976. In the same year he was appointed an extraordinary professor . In 1979 he was given a full professorship at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg. Friedrich-Wilhelm von Herrmann has retired since 1999 .

Scientific work

In his scientific work, Friedrich-Wilhelm von Herrmann deals with fundamental problems of hermeneutics and phenomenology . His thinking is strongly influenced by Martin Heidegger , whose post-processed complete edition he supervises scientifically at Vittorio Klostermann . In his writings, von Herrmann particularly deals with various topics and basic questions from the works of Edmund Husserl and Martin Heidegger.

The philosopher Paola-Ludovika Coriando is one of his students .
