Architecture and artistic design

Rieger organ from 1983

The church was built in the early 1960s using concrete, steel and brick according to plans by Hamburg architects Friedhelm Grundmann and Horst Sandtmann . Church consecration was celebrated on March 14, 1965. The building is characterized by its clear forms.

The windows of the aisle are designed by the artist Lothar Quinte in blue, abstract patterns. The baptismal font, pulpit and altar crown of the church are cast from concrete according to a design by Peter Dreher and show motifs from Luke 5:10 (the " fisherman "), or the symbols of the four evangelists . The dominant element of the room is the altar crown, a concrete wreath that "hovers" over the altar as a roof . It is adorned with 10 pictures depicting scenes from the passion story .

The Rieger organ (1983) and the colored altar hangings (1995), which are artistically coordinated with the space, bring warm colors to the church.
