Friedrich August Herbig
Friedrich August Herbig (born February 28, 1794 in Potsdam , † September 13, 1849 in Berlin ) was a German publisher and bookseller .
Life
Herbig was trained as a bookseller in the Nauck bookstore in Berlin. In 1820 he bought the publishing house F. Schade and founded the publishing house of Friedrich August Herbig the following year . Herbig published books from various literary fields, including the first major travel guide in Germany, which was later translated into both French and Russian .
Herbig maintained contacts with well-known writers, poets and artists such as the Brothers Grimm , Achim and Bettina von Arnim , Schadow and Karl Begas . His grave is in the south-west cemetery Stahnsdorf .
