Friedrich Baur (Manager)

Friedrich Baur (born June 23, 1927 Schrozberg ; † July 9, 2006 ) was a German industrial manager. He was a member of the executive board of Siemens AG and was chairman of the board of the Zahnradfabrik Friedrichshafen AG .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1946, he studied electrical engineering in Stuttgart . During his studies he joined the Stuttgart and Munich Wingolf . In 1953 he completed his studies with a doctorate . In the same year he began his professional career in the central laboratory in Munich (communications measuring equipment area) of what was then Siemens & Halske AG. In various positions as group and department head, he took over the transmission technology division in 1969 and headed the long-distance technology division in 1971; In 1973 he was appointed to the board of the company now trading as Siemens AG. Two years later he took over the management of the components division and in 1979 became spokesman for the board committee for electronic technology. In 1981 he left the company, among other things because of different views on business policy in the construction elements division. He was accused of failing to advance the development of the megachip generation fast enough and of making losses in his field. Until his resignation, he was considered hard-working, very well-versed in his profession and as a "manager without blame or blame".

He was then chairman of the board of the Zahnradfabrik Friedrichshafen AG from 1982 to 1989 . Under his leadership, the business was internationalized. a. by setting up our own production facilities in large foreign markets such as the USA and Turkey . He then moved to the company's supervisory board , to which he was a member until 1996.

His brother Hans Baur was also a board member of Siemens AG.

Friedrich Baur had been married since 1957 and had three children.
