Friedrich Benfer , born in Federico Benfer , also Enrico Benfer , (born August 28, 1905 in Naples , Italy , † January 30, 1996 in Milan , Italy) was a German actor .

Life

Benfer, born in Italy, came to Berlin at an early age and received a commercial training there. He made his first film appearance at the age of 20, and soon he took on leading roles, initially several times under the name Enrico Benfer . In 1928 he played for the first time at the side of Jenny Jugo , who later became his wife.

In the 1930s, however, his film career stagnated, and stage offers such as an engagement at the German Art Theater in 1932 were rare. He played his most important roles at the side of his wife, especially in 1935/36 in the girl years of a queen as Albert von Sachsen-Coburg and Gotha .

In 1941 Jenny Jugo separated due to her relationship with the film producer Eberhard Klagemann . After his last German film The Queen's Heart with Zarah Leander , he traveled to Rome and acted in several Italian films there. After that, he ended his acting career.

Benfer worked as a grocery buyer in the Reich Aviation Ministry and was drafted into the Wehrmacht on October 24, 1944. Until his death he ran his company Benfer Chimica in Bazzano, Italy .

Benfer only divorced Jenny Jugo in 1957 after finding a new partner. Nevertheless, he kept in contact with Yugo and their partner Klagemann, whom he supported financially in the following years. He later remarried Jenny Jugo, only to finally separate from her in 1992.
