Friedrich Bertelsmann (born August 29, 1817 in Rotenburg an der Fulda , † June 4, 1897 ) was a German book printer and newspaper publisher .

He was the son of the businessman Arnold Bertelsmann and his wife Wilhelmine. In 1856 he founded his own printing house and from 1857 published the Rotenburger Kreisblatt , the first newspaper in Rotenburg, which appeared as the official organ of the Rotenburg district office with official news, political and entertaining parts and sales advertisements. From July 1857 the Rotenburger Kreisblatt was also the organ for the Homberg district (until 1869), and from 1858 for the Witzenhausen and Fritzlar districts (until 1866). Later the name was changed to "Kreisblatt". After Bertelsmann's death, the printing company was continued by his son Eduard Bertelsmann (1844–1909), and after his death by his widow, who later moved to Berlin. From 1910 the name was changed back to "Rotenburger Kreisblatt". The printer and typesetter Adam Hofmeister took over the Rotenburg printing house.
