Friedrich Candidus

Friedrich "Fritz" Candidus (* 1904 in Darmstadt ; † in July 1986 in Bad Windsheim ) was a German homeland poet and senior teacher .

Life

Friedrich Candidus studied after attending high school theology and began in 1926 his religious career in the Mark Brandenburg . After a posting to Brazil , he left the church service in 1928 and became an actor , propagandist and substitute in a department store. During the Second World War , Candidus became a soldier in 1940; In 1945 he was released from Holland . Then he entered the Bavarian school service and became a teacher. He started his first job in Laubenzedel near Gunzenhausen before becoming a teacher in Merkendorf in April 1946 .

In addition to school service, Candidus was involved in local associations. He encouraged the foundation of the Merkendorf u. Around 1949 e. V. , which he also directed for many years and was part of the Merkendorf 1866 e. V. , of which he was an honorary member.

His great love was home care : He researched the local history, wrote articles for the local newspaper Altmühl-Bote in Gunzenhausen and published the article "Drive to Merkendorfer Krautland" in the issue of the Mittelfränkische Heimatbogen .

Candidus was a teacher in Merkendorf from 1946 until his retirement. During the holidays he traveled all over Europe with his caravan , even when he was already retired - the last time at the age of 78. In 1984 he and his wife - who had given birth to two boys - moved to a nursing home in Bad Windsheim, where he died in July 1986.

Fritz Candidus wrote many poems, songs and a play about his hometown Merkendorf.
