Christian Wilhelm Friedrich Otto Chop (born February 28, 1801 in Sondershausen ; † March 16, 1875 there ) was head of the March Ministry in Schwarzburg-Sondershausen .

Friedrich Chop was the son of the Princely Court Counselor, Privy Cabinet-Secretair and later Government Councilor in Arnstadt Carl Günther Chop (* 1774) and his wife Dorothea Wilhelmina Christiana Cannabich (1779–1839). Friedrich Chop, who was Protestant-Lutheran, married Julie Caroline Chop (born August 3, 1805 Sondershausen; † September 7, 1883 ibid) on April 18, 1824 with a princely dispensation in Sondershausen, the daughter of the Princely Secretary, later court and Consistorial Councilor Günther Friedrich Carl Chop . His son Carl Chop (1825–1882) was a lawyer, notary, naturalist and writer. Another son, Albert Chop , was a district judge in Greussen ; his son Max Chop (1862-1929) a well-known music writer.

The Friedrich Chops family played an essential role in the politics of Schwarzburg-Sondershausen for generations. His grandfather, August Christian Ernst Chop (1744–1798) was the secret secretary of Sondershausen, his great-grandfather Adolph Friedrich Chop (approx. 1702–1783), court and consistorial councilor of Sondershausen.

A brother of the father-in-law is the Princely Secret Councilor Karl Christian Ferdinand Chop (1767–1840). Carl Emmerling , the husband of a cousin, was elected to the Volkshaus of the German Parliament from 1850 in the constituency of the Principality of Schwarzburg-Sondershausen . His cousin Ferdinand Chop (1802–1879) was a member of the state parliament in Schwarzburg-Sondershausen from 1849 to 1850.

Administrative career and politics

Friedrich Chop became a member of the original fraternity during his studies in 1817/18 . After completing his studies, he became a government assessor in 1824, a councilor in the Princely Government of Sondershausen in 1831, and from 1835 to 1836 was entrusted with the administration of the secretariat of the secret council. From 1836 to 1840 he was cabinet councilor and third member of the secret council in Sondershausen. 1840 Councilor at the Higher Appeal Court in Zerbst, which is responsible for Schwarzburg-Sondershausen .

With the March Revolution , Friedrich Chop became head of the March Ministry in Schwarzburg-Sondershausen. From March 18, 1848 to June 30, 1850 he was head of the Secret Council College in Sondershausen and from July 1, 1850 to 4/7. January 1852 as head of the ministry (Minister of State) and head of the 1st department (Princely House and Foreign Affairs) in Sondershausen. From January 19, 1849, he was Schwarzburg-Sondershäuser authorized representative on the administrative board of the German governments allied on the basis of the treaty of May 26, 1849.

From December 29, 1851 to January 5, 1852 he was a member of the Landtag of the Principality of Schwarzburg-Sondershausen for constituency IV 2.

In 1852 he lost the vote on his draft constitution against the opposition led by Albert von Holleuffer with eight to seven votes in the state parliament . He was retired at his own request and resigned from the state parliament.

Honors

On March 18, 1848, he was appointed to the Real Privy Council. In 1850 he was awarded the command of the first class of the Grand Ducal Saxon House Order of the White Falcon .
