Friedrich Christoph zu Solms-Wildenfels

Friedrich Christoph Graf zu Solms-Wildenfels (born May 11, 1712 in Koenigsberg (Prussia) , † May 11, 1792 in Koenigstein ) was an Electoral Saxon general of the infantry .

Life

His parents were the Prussian Real Chamberlain and Major General Heinrich Wilhelm zu Solms-Wildenfels-Laubach (1675–1741) and Helene Dorothea Countess Truchsess von Waldburg (1680–1712), the daughter of General Wolfgang Christoph Truchsess von Waldburg . Friedrich Christoph was the brother of Friedrich Ludwig Graf zu Solms-Wildenfels (1708–1789), a Russian officer and Saxon statesman.

Friedrich Christoph embarked on a military career, first in Swedish and then in Hesse. But on 1742 as a lieutenant colonel in the Electoral Saxon army. Promoted to colonel on July 13, 1746 and major general on June 8, 1753. During the Seven Years' War he was the successor of General Dyherrn under Prince Xaver as commander of the Saxon infantry, which was paid for in French. On July 19, 1759 he was appointed lieutenant general and on June 26, 1764 chief of an infantry regiment. During the War of the Bavarian Succession in 1778, he commanded a Saxon corps under Prince Heinrich of Prussia . On November 1, 1778 he became General of the Infantry and Commander of the Königstein Fortress . He died there on his 80th birthday.

family

His first marriage was to Countess Johanna Eleonore Josepha Henckel von Donnersmark (1710–1774), the widow of Christian-Ernst zu Solms-Baruth (1706–1748). In his second marriage he was married to Countess Johanna Marie Friederike von Löser (1741–1807). Both marriages remained childless.
