Friedrich Demmer (singer, 1803)

Friedrich Demmer ( April 19, 1803 in Hamburg - 1859 in Passau ) was an Austrian opera singer ( tenor ) and stage actor .

Life

Demmer came to Austria with his parents at an early age and was trained in acting by his father, the actor Christian Demmer . He made his debut in Graz in 1819 and was engaged there. In 1822 he got an engagement at the Theater am Kärntnertor , went to Graz in 1823 , in 1832 with Johann August Stöger to the Theater in der Josefstadt and in 1834 with Stöger to Prague , where he made his debut on May 4th as Count Almaviva in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro . He died in Passau in 1859 while retiring from the Prague Theater .

His uncles were the opera singers and actors Joseph Demmer and Carl Demmer .
