Davidian is a Baden-Württemberg thrash and melodic death metal band from Plüderhausen , which was founded in 1997.

history

The band was founded in the summer of 1997 as a school band by the guitarists Alex Schniepp and Micha Weidler. With Alex's brother Benni as the singer, Micha's brother Tobi as the drummer and the bassist Salli Indovina, the band began to cover songs by groups such as Slayer , Kreator and Destruction . In 1998 Tim Hinderer joined the line-up as the new bass player, before Irish Chris Prendergast joined the band as the new singer a year later . Together they recorded a first demo, which was followed by a second in January 2000 under the name … in Pain . Shortly after the recordings, the drummer Tobi Weidler left the band and was replaced by Alex Scherf at the end of 2000 after the group had temporarily worked with session drummers. This was followed by appearances together with Die Apokalyptischen Reiter , Blackened and Behind the Scenery . In the summer of 2003, the band recorded their own debut album, Abuse of Power , which was released on the band's website in September. This was followed by other appearances, including participation in festivals such as Up from the Ground , Kaltenbach Open Air and the Metallic Noise Festival . In addition, the group organized their own festival under the name Zabbaduschder Open Air. After the singer Prendergast left the band, he was replaced in early 2006 by the American Dave Hopkins after a long search . Shortly thereafter, the band began work on the second album Hear Their Cries . In February 2007 she went to the Stage One Studio , where she recorded the album under the direction of Andy Classen . Then Davidian started looking for a label, which she found with Limited Access Records . The album was released at the end of April 2008. The sound carrier was distributed worldwide through Rough Trade and Intergroove . For the release, the band played gig with Fleshcrawl , Subconscious and Creature . In 2009 the band played various concerts and performed at several festivals, performing with Hatebreed , Heaven Shall Burn , Vader , Cryptopsy , Whitechapel and Maroon , among others . In May 2010 the band recorded a new album at Antfarm Studio in Aarhus , Denmark , with producer Tue Madsen . Meanwhile, Tobias Brausch was a new singer in the band. After an appearance at Summer Breeze in 2011, the album Our Fear Is Their Force was finally released in February 2012 . The band had previously reached a recording deal with Massacre Records in November 2011 . In addition, a music video was released for the song Fake Society , which the band had been helped to create by the production team Black Cat.

style

According to laut.de , the band on Abuse of Power was heavily oriented towards Thrash Metal of the 1980s. According to Jan Fleckhaus from Metal Hammer , the band plays classic Thrash Metal with a modern approach on Hear Their Cries . He described the music as a mix of Slayer , Exodus , Kreator , Machine Head , Fear Factory and Sepultura . The change of singer is hardly significant compared to its predecessor. Christian Kruse from Metal Hammer noted in his review of Our Fear Is Their Force a genre change away from classic Thrash Metal to modern Death Metal in the style of Heaven Shall Burn . The riffs of the songs would mostly move in the medium speed range. The album manages without clear vocals, instead it alternates “between barking, rough Thrash vocals and death metal grunts”. Matthias Weckmann confirmed the genre change in a later Metal Hammer edition. The band initially specialized in classic Thrash Metal from the Legion of the Damned brand , while since Our Fear Is Their Force they have increasingly oriented themselves towards groups like Heaven Shall Burn, Neaera and Maroon . Alex Scherf stated in an interview with Weckmann that the album title criticizes the fact that society is controlled by fears.
