Friedrich Ernst Wolfrom
Friedrich Ernst Wolfrom (born April 9, 1857 in Magdeburg , † July 11, 1923 in Berlin ) was a German history painter and etcher .
Live and act
He began his academic studies in 1875 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, where he also met Franz von Lenbach and then continued them at the Dresden Art Academy (with Julius Huebner ). In 1881/1882 he followed Hans Makart to Vienna, but after his death moved via Munich and Dresden to Berlin, where he settled permanently in 1892. His artistic work was extremely productive and varied on a wide range: He painted mythological and allegorical scenes, heroic landscapes, portraits, character heads and nudes, scenes from Berlin social life as well as biblical themes. In 1900 he was commissioned to paint the Bundesrat hall in the Berlin Reichstag building.
He found his final resting place in the south-west cemetery in Stahnsdorf .
