Friedrich Erwin Rentschler

Friedrich Erwin Rentschler (born March 16, 1932 in Laupheim ; † July 19, 2018 ) was a German entrepreneur and art collector .

Life

After his pharmaceutical exam Rentschler was at the 1962 Munich University with a thesis on quantitative determination of flavones and tannins using the titration by the Schwarzenbach doctorate . From 1959 to 1999 he was managing director and partner of the Dr. Rentschler Group . During his time with the company, the biotechnology division was expanded. In 1983, the company received the world's first approval for an interferon product called Fiblaferon .

Since 1999 Friedrich Erwin Rentschler was chairman of the supervisory board of Dr. Rentschler Holding GmbH & Co. KG in Laupheim. In that year Rentschler handed over the business activities to his son Nikolaus F. Rentschler.

Since 1999 Rentschler has been paying more attention to his FER Collection (FER stands for his initials). Since 2009, large parts of the collection have been in the “Ulmer Stadtregal”, a historic factory building in Ulm .

Friedrich E. Rentschler was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon in 1998.

  • since 1999: Speaker of the collectors in the MNK / ZKM Karlsruhe
  • 2000–2006: Chairman of the University Council of the State Academy of Fine Arts Karlsruhe
