Collection FER Collection

The FER Collection is an art collection by Friedrich Erwin Rentschler that has been on the Ulm “Stadtregal” since 2009 . The letters FER stand for the collector's initials .

collection

The FER collection essentially has three focal points. The constructive art of the post-war period, new tendencies of the 1960s with Minimal Art , Concept Art and Arte povera as well as the wild painting of the 1980s that followed. Since then, the collection has been continuously expanded, with photo art and video installations also finding their way into the collection.

Andreas F. Beitin, head of the ZKM in Karlsruhe, describes the characteristics of the collection with the portrait of a young man looking at his painter by Lorenzo Lotto (1505) and the photographic replica of the same by Giulio Paolini from 1967. “Through the gaze of young man, beyond his actual position, the viewer is simultaneously transferred into that of his early modern painter, his postmodern reproducer and finally into the position of the owner. "
