Alan Charlton (artist)

Alan Charlton (* 1948 in Sheffield , England ) is a British painter . He is considered one of the most important conceptual artists in England.

Live and act

Alan Charlton attended the Sheffield School of Art from 1965 to 1966, then the Camberwell School of Arts of the University of the Arts London until 1969 and then the Royal Academy Schools of the Royal Academy of Arts until 1972 .

Since 1970 he has only been painting monochrome gray pictures, with the rectangle being the starting point of his work.

Alan Charlton is married to the artist Lesley Foxcroft and lives and works in Hatfield near London .
