Niele Toroni (born March 15, 1937 in Muralto near Locarno ) is a Swiss conceptual artist of minimalism and analytical painting .

Life

The trained teacher settled in Paris in 1959 to devote himself to painting. There he formed an artist community with Daniel Buren and Michel Parmentier (* 1938) in 1966 , which was later joined by Olivier Mosset . In 1967 the short-lived group called BMPT (Buren, Mosset, Parmentier, Toroni) only after its dissolution organized four events titled manifestations (French: demonstration, rally), by means of which the four artists of their strict refusal to express their Art to convey a message or to evoke emotions, as well as expressing its radical rejection of any artistic ideology and calling the entire art world into question.

Niele Toroni remained true to this conception of art.
