Haim Steinbach

Haim Steinbach (* 1944 in Rechovot ) is an Israeli - American object and installation artist who lives in Brooklyn , New York City .

life and work

Haim Steinbach has lived in the USA since 1957. In 1968 he obtained a bachelor's degree from the Pratt Institute , from 1965 to 1966 he studied at the University of Aix-Marseille , where he graduated and in 1973 his master's degree from Yale University .

Steinbach works mainly with mass products and ready-made products , but also with natural and ethnological objects that he collects and arranges. He examines the psychological, aesthetic, cultural and ritual aspects of collecting and its objects.

For Documenta IX , Haim Steinbach staged objects from the desk of documenta director Jan Hoet in the Neue Galerie in Kassel .
