Friedrich Franz Hasselmann (born March 5, 1713 in Oldenburg in Holstein , † November 23, 1784 in Neumünster ) was a German Evangelical Lutheran clergyman and the last general superintendent of the ducal portion of Holstein in the time of the grand ducal .

Life

Friedrich Franz Hasselmann came from a family that had pastors in the duchies for centuries. He was a son of the pastor Zacharias Hasselmann and his wife Engel Elisabeth, geb. Friccius, daughter of the city physician of Husum .

After his father's appointment as the main pastor of St. Laurentius (Tönning) in 1722, he grew up in Tönning and attended school here. He studied Protestant theology at the University of Jena and the University of Kiel . He then worked as an informator (private tutor) for the four sons of forester Ibsen in Neumünster. In 1736, Duke Karl Friedrich (Schleswig-Holstein-Gottorf) appointed him deacon in Neumünster. In 1755 he was promoted to senior pastor here. In addition to his main pastorate, which he retained until his death, he became provost in 1763, consistorial councilor in 1764 and in 1766 as successor to Gustav Christoph Hoßmann general superintendent of the grand princely part of Holstein. After his death, the position was not filled again, as the prince's share was integrated into the royal share on the basis of the Treaty of Tsarskoye Selo .

Hasselmann's first marriage since 1739 was the daughter of the general superintendent Anton Caspar Engel . The couple had 14 children, eight of whom died in childhood. After her death in 1765 he married Friederike Dorothea, geb. Gentzke, widow of the judiciary Beneke.

The two surviving sons from their first marriage were Carl Friedrich (1743-1809), pastor in Oldenburg, Neumünster and Rahlstedt, and Zacharias (1758-1830), who was the administrator in Reinfeld and the father of Karl Friedrich Christian Hasselmann .
