Friedrich Benedikt Funk (born May 23, 1847 in Magdeburg , † October 6, 1897 in Dessau ) was a German lawyer and politician .

Born the son of a Magdeburg city ​​councilor , Funk studied law in Heidelberg and Berlin after attending the Magdeburg High School . During his studies in 1866 he became a member of the Allemannia Heidelberg fraternity . After the first state examination in 1869, legal clerkship in Berlin and doctorate to Dr. iur. In 1872, he passed his second state examination in 1873 and became a district judge in Chodziesen . In 1874 he went to Magdeburg, where he became a paid city councilor. In 1882 he became mayor of Eisleben , in 1884 mayor and in 1896 mayor of Dessau for life . He became a secret councilor , was a member of the district council and the district committee . In 1890 and 1897 he was a member of the Anhalt state parliament . When a devastating flood devastated the city in 1897 , Funk was blamed for suicide , although he was not to blame . The radio station in Dessau was named after him.
